SHRM and NPR - just a personal pet peeve
OK - this has nothing to do with actual HR operations or technology, but it really irks me that NPR is sponsored by SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management). SHRM is one of these very pro-employer organizations, and it's just another sign that NPR is being bought by big business. At one point in time, NPR had enough government subsidies and subscriber contributions ("from listners like you") that they could report on the work and on business any way they liked. Now, they seem to be increasingly pro-business. This is very similar to what seems to be hapening to PBS on the TV. It's dissappointing when these types of organizations are increasingly "bought."
